Medicaid covers dental services for all children enrolled as part of a comprehensive group of benefits, called the Early and Periodic Screening Diagnostic and Treatment benefit. Oral screening may be part of a physical exam, however, it does not substitute for a dental examination performed by a dentist. A referral to a dentist is required for every child in accordance with the periodicity schedule set by a state. If you’re enrolled in Medicaid you already have dental benefits, and we would love to see you at our office in Terre Haute, Indiana. All you have to do is make an appointment and show us your Medicaid member ID when you visit.
What your child eats and when has an effect on his or her oral health. Your children are given a great deal of food choice, from fresh vegetables, to processed food that are full of sugar. A great many foods contain sugars. Removing them from your diet entirely would be impractical. Therefore, focus should be put on how often sugars are in your child’s mouth. A diet that consists of a lot of sugary foods and drinks can ruin teeth.

An important aspect of children’s dentistry is providing comprehensive care to young patients with special behavioral, developmental, and other unique healthcare needs. In an effort to make our patients and their families as comfortable as possible, we proudly offer oral care to all children regardless of their personal needs. Our staff is trained specifically to treat the dental needs of young patients with special needs. Therefore, we specifically welcome all families with children who require special needs. For some of our special needs patients who might benefit from an opportunity to become familiar with our office and staff, we may recommend a complimentary visit only for the first appointment. Please let our staff know when scheduling a first visit if you feel your child would benefit from a site visit.
